Futurist Sarah Brin will be diving into the Metaverse at Assembly Creative Tech event!
The term "Metaverse" seems to be a pretty common buzz-word these days. But what does it really mean? And why are people so obsessed with metaverses, what makes them so good at whipping up frenzied fandoms?
In this presentation, futurist and senior producer Sarah Brin demonstrates some of the historic lineages of expansive storyworlds, and distills some key design principles for creative technology practice, worldbuilding, and meaningful connections with audiences.
Sarah Brin is Senior Outreach Producer at Media Molecule, creators of Dreams for PlayStation. Sarah has worked with games, technology and immersive media for over a decade, leading strategic partnerships for the George RR Martin-backed experience design company Meow Wolf; driving an EU research project about games and play in museums; leading Autodesk's digital fabrication residency programme in Silicon Valley, and lots more.
Sarah's research interests include alternative reality storytelling, public spaces, and creative technology, which has led her to work on projects like musical streetlights, an art exhibition on a subway car, a city-wide escape room, and an art exhibition in outer space.
