Creative Zone is the center of Assembly’s creative activities. If you’re interested in demos, coding, developing games, building electronics, programming or creative technology in general – you’ve come to the right place.

Demoscene’s living room, where everyone who is interested in media art can come and watch demos and multiple competitions in programming, music and graphics. Come and meet other enthusiasts and sceners. In the lounge, you’ll find a screen where you can watch some of the event’s demo competitions and you can also participate in Lounge’s own competitions, many of which are easier to approach than the big demo competitions, and they do not require extensive coding skills.
The deep end of technology and the shallower coast – Assembly’s seminars offer content for industry enthusiasts as well as beginners and other interested in technology.

There are several workshops related to the game development and coding. The target group is mainly beginners, but there is also content for the more advanced. The content is also suitable for families and young people. You will need your own laptop to participate in the workshops. A limited number of people are accepted as participants for the workshops.

“Tutustuminen 3D-mallinnukseen”
Let’s get to know 3D modeling together with the help of Blender. You will need a laptop and Blender (https://www.blender.org/download/) already installed.

The workshop is designed to give a wide perspective of terms and practices in concept design, utilizing shape language, color theory and visual storytelling (composition, perspective, light, texture, balancing, etc.) as a part of concept art production. We will also cover the most popular AI tools – how to use them, what to be aware of when using AI art. No previous knowledge nor experience in art production is required, one can use any digital or analogue drawing tools (papers and pens will be provided at the workshop).

Minecraft, created by Mojang, is one of the most popular games in the world and has been for a while now. There are a number of ways to play the game, whether its building, combat, or redstone, which makes the game fun and enjoyable. Even though Minecraft is as fun as it is, there are ways of making Minecraft even more fun, by adding new features, items, mini-games, and much more. In this workshop we will mainly be focusing on Modded Minecraft, we’ll take a look at what could be possible with Mods, set up a Modded Minecraft workspace, and start with the absolute basics of creating a mod!

Learn how to make a game boy game with GB Studio. No previous game development experience needed, you are welcome to join in with your own laptop or just come to watch and learn. We will cover pixel art creation, level design and basic game logic using visual programming. Participants will also have an opportunity to run their own game on a real game boy at the end of the workshop.
