Event Overview

The ECL ’25: Winter Elite Finals brings together the top two teams from the most competitive NHL esports league in Europe. After battling through the 16-team regular season and intense best-of-seven playoffs, the finalists will face off live on stage to claim the European Championship Title.

Structure

• Teams at Assembly: 2 finalists
• Qualification: Teams qualify through a 16-team ECL Elite regular season followed by BO7 playoffs.
• Format: Single-elimination, Best-of-7 (BO7).
• Road to Finals: The regular season and playoffs can be followed live on Twitch.tv/SportsGamerGG.

Prizes

• Total ECL ’25: Winter Prize Pool: €24,000.
  • Elite Division Prize Pool: €9,600.
    • Winner: €5,000 and the European Championship Title.
    • Runner-up: €2,000.
    • Semifinalists (3rd & 4th): €1,000 each.
    • Quarterfinalists (5th–8th): €400 each.

What is the ECL?

The ECL is the pinnacle of European NHL esports. The abbreviation stands for the European Championship League and it features NHL 6v6 esports in five divisions aimed at various skill levels. Every player, including the goalies, is controlled by a human. League games are played in the EASHL mode and the platform is PlayStation and Xbox. ECL has been played since 2015, so the upcoming season is already the 19th. The latest addition to the ECL product family is a 1v1 tournament, where Europe’s best solo players fight for the championship. ECL 1v1 has been played since the ECL ’23 Winter season.

ECL is open for players and teams of every level. Whether you’re a top-tier player or someone just starting up, Elite has a division suited for your level of play.

The divisions framework for the ECL ‘25: Winter season consists of five divisions with the following team allocation:

• Elite 16 teams
• Pro 32 teams
• Lite 50 teams
• Core 45  teams
• Neo 45 teams.

ECL Elite Division Highlights

• Top-tier Competition: TOP 16 teams in Europe battle it out during the regular season and playoffs to reach the finals.
• Relegation & Promotion: Top 10 teams remain in Elite, while the bottom 4 face potential relegation to the Pro division.
