Assembly Friends: School of Gaming

SOG, or School of Gaming in short, takes the gaming hobby of young gamers to the next level.

The school building is based on the internet and is connected to your home via network cables. Our game educators act as guides in the most unusual game adventures, which you can jump into at any time. In our lessons the gamers learn useful life skills from problem solving to programming, and get to dive into the game worlds we create and become part of in our safe gamer community.

The School of Gaming started operating in the spring of 2020. At that time, SOG had a handful of novice game educators and a few dozen gamers ready to be educated. Today, there are well over 100 game educators and almost 1,500 gamers involved in SOG’s activities.

We operate in many different countries and in different languages.

The Great and Awesome Minecraft co-building program

Let’s build big together! Everyone can join the project. Let’s create a crazy Assembly 2023 world. The building starts during ASSEMBLY Winter 2023 and ends at Summer 2023. Is there anything better than a long project to express your creativity on?!

Come play Minecraft and relax between the intense tournament matches, or if you truly are a builder at heart, you can mine around the clock during the entire event.

The building kicks off on Thursday at 5 p.m., when the game server opens.

Our stand offers versatile program throughout the event. If you would like to make some friends, join our meet-up! Let’s go to a hamburger together, cheer during the Valorant final, go to a concert, play arcade games and pound the floor in the table tennis arena.

Workshops

At the School of Gaming booth you can find game laptops and some consoles. In our workshops, we teach e.g. how to create Minecraft skins (you’re ready for the Great Building Project), importance of redstone as a builder’s best friend (get to know the secret doors) and Rocket League tricks. The exact times can be found at sog.gg/winterassy23 or at our stand. Between workshops, we welcome you to play Minecraft, Rocket League, Valorant, Fortnite, CS:GO and Overwatch.
